Pre-treatment Protocols

The ICS intake-form must be completed. (This is your 1st step)

Pre-ibogaine medical tests must be completed, and reports of each test must be provided. (2nd step)

  • EKG/ECG (most important)
  • Blood Tests (we provide a full list of what to test for)
  • General Physical

All medications (prescription and non-prescription) must be listed on the ICS intake form, this is very important in order to give sufficient time to taper off any medications that block/compete with ibogaine. There are certain psychiatric and QT-prolonging medications that can cause serious problems during a session. Common medications like anti-depressants will need to be tapered down and completely stopped 2 to 3 weeks prior to the administration of ibogaine. Clients can resume their normal prescribed medications 48 hours after treatment if necessary.

Note: benzodiazepine dependent clients must resume their regular dosing regime throughout their ibogaine session. It's very important to inform ICS staff if you're dependent on benzodiazepines, as ibogaine will NOT cleanse these types of medications, and going without them can be very dangerous.

We recommend switching your diet 5 to 7 days prior to your session - Avoid fried, fatty, salty, or overly processed foods. Avoid red meat, pork or refined sugars and carbohydrates. Consume lots of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, fish, and chicken. Avoid grapefruit and tonic water (it contains quinine.) These can cause QT prolongation, and an abnormal heartbeat, which has caused problems during ibogaine treatments. From experience, we know that people who eat cleaner go through the ibogaine experience must easier, and their recovery time is always shorter.

We recommend starting supplements at least  5  to 7 days before your treatment. it is advisable to take B-12, Vitamin C, potassium, calcium, and magnesium supplements. Careful when deciding on which magnesium to choose, as many have a low absorption rate and won't break the blood-brain barrier. Go with a Magnesium Bisglycinate.

Receiving kambo 1 to 2 weeks prior to ibogaine can be very beneficial. Kambo cleanses and strengthens the body. This is great as it makes the ibogaine experience and recovery much easier for the client.

Hydrate the day before. Drink lots of water, juice, or a drink that contains electrolytes.

The day of treatment we will keep you as empty as possible until we're about 1.5 hours into the session. This is to reduce the need to use the washroom during the medicines onset and gives your body time to absorb the medicine before you purge. Movement is known to cause nausea, and purging to soon can be a problem. It's also a good idea to take a nice warm shower or bath before we begin. It's good to be clean, and you may not be able to shower or bath for a while.

We do thought placement to help you set a clear intention of what you want to achieve from your ibogaine experience. Some clients write down questions that they would like to have answered during their session. For some, during their awakened dream state phase, they're able to have their written questions answered in the form of visions. Don't be let down if you have no immediate breakthroughs, Ibogaine works for days or even weeks after the session, and many of your questions may be answered in this time frame.

Note: The ICS Client Handbook will be sent electronically to approved clients.
